Choosing to take a trip to the Vendée guarantees that you’ll discover wild and unspoiled beaches. Some of these magnificent stretches of sand are among the most beautiful beaches in Europe. This reputation is well-deserved—far from it.
However, while they are certainly worth a visit, they are sometimes overwhelmed by their own popularity during the high season.
If you prefer to venture off the beaten path, you’ll be glad to know that there are some lesser-known beaches that are just as beautiful… Just for you, here’s a quick look at a few of them.
Plage des Dunes (1.3 km from the campground):
This is the closest beach to your base camp. And needless to say, it’s a real treat! Flanked by magnificent dunes, it’s simply a picture-perfect setting.
Here, you’ll lay your towel on fine, warm sand (much more comfortable than pebbles!) and, above all, you’ll enjoy the space around you.
Paracou Beach (a 10-minute drive from the campground)
This is an incredibly charming beach located on the wild coast. If you ask us, it’s the perfect getaway for a trip with family or friends. The more adventurous among you will leave the car in the garage and hop on your bikes.
And here we go for a dream day… (Please note that, first and foremost, you need to check the tide schedules. For the itinerary we’ve put together for you, the tide must be low in the morning.)
Start by heading to Paracou Beach via the bike paths that lead there. Not only will you enjoy a pleasant atmosphere along the entire route, but you’ll also be treated to some stunning views. Breathtaking panoramas guaranteed!
Once you’re there, you can choose what to do: relax and swim, play beach volleyball, or build sandcastles… Above all, you’ll enjoy the simple pleasure of being together.
Granges Beach (3 km)
A beautiful, spacious beach that’s patrolled during the summer, it offers easy access and has a snack bar where you can grab a bite to eat. It’s a particularly popular spot among windsurfers, who find ideal conditions here to enjoy their passion.
Be careful, though: further south, the rip current can make swimming dangerous.
Good to know: The beach is supervised and has a lifeguard station, is easily accessible, and has several parking lots available.

- A picnic worthy of the name.
- An excellent sunscreen.
- Something to keep you hydrated (water, lots of water… and maybe a chilled rosé* as an aperitif).
- Equipment for beachcombing (clamshoe, rake, bucket, etc.).
- Excellent physical condition (optional).
* Enjoy in moderation.
